How Useful are Dog Containment Systems?

If your property is too large to fence completely or your dog keeps escaping from your yard, then you will understand the importance of a dog containment system. These systems take the place of a fence along your property line and are used to keep your dog from wandering away from your property.

How do dog containment fences work?

Instead of a fence, you use a wire that needs to be dug into the ground and covered with soil to protect it from damage. If you have a very large property or acreage, then you can either section off a small part of land around your house or run the dog containment fence (the wire) around your entire boundary line. You can even close off your vegetable garden to stop your dog digging up your plants.

Usually, you can section off an area of up to 200 acres and even more in some cases, so it is unlikely that you will have trouble with your dog escaping once you have the wire in place.

The boundary wire of the dog containment system emits an FM signal that is picked up by a receiver on your dog’s collar. As you dog approaches the wire, the sensor on their collar emits a warning beep and if they continue to approach the dog containment fence they are given a static correction.

You can put little flags in the ground where your dog will receive a warning beep, so that your dog comes to realise that they need to stay on the right side of the flags or else they receive a correction.

The static corrections do not harm your dog, just give them a little fright and makes your dog give due consideration to approaching your boundary line. You can increase or decrease the strength of the static correction, in case your dog is really stubborn (turn it up slightly) or very nervous (turn it down slightly). 

These dog containment systems are heaven sent for people with large properties and for people whose fence line is not adequate to keep their dogs contained. Once you have installed a dog containment fence, you will wonder how you ever managed without one.

Why Should I Buy Dog Training Collars?

If you have the perfect dog that obeys all of your commands and never puts a paw wrong, then you don’t need to buy a dog training collar. If you are like most people however, and your dog thinks they are the boss and simply ignores most of your commands – except when it is time for a walk or play or it is dinner time, then you could most probably use some help from a dog training collar.
